The new rail line is due to re-open this summer

The local authority is in the process of acquiring a 105-square metre piece of land by way of a compulsory purchase order.

The �70m Stirling to Kincardine 13-mile stretch of track is scheduled to open in the summer.

The line will see the re-introduction of services between Stirling and Alloa.

The council said that when title searches were initially carried out, it was assumed the plot belonged to Network Rail.

Later investigations revealed this was not the case.

Despite attempts to locate the land owner, the local authority said it was unable to do so and was currently in the process of buying it to ensure the rail link project was completed.

The rail link has already been delayed by more than a year after safety measures had to be boosted at a planned level crossing.

The track, which will end at the Longannet power station in Kincardine, is being re-opened to help reduce the amount of freight on the roads.
