Drivers claims too many taxi licences are being awarded
Taxi drivers have held a protest and threatened to cripple Dundee with strikes and road blockades in a dispute with the council's licensing department.

BBC Scotland's news website asked local people for their views on the dispute.

Shop worker Vicky Queen said she would have difficulty getting home after shifts if there was a walkout.

She said: "I only use taxis when I finish work at night, so if there were no taxis, it would be hard for me because I can't get a bus directly home."

Chris Cromer said she used taxis nearly every day to get to work.

She said: "It would hurt if they went on strike because the buses are that bad. I live in Linlathen and the buses come every hour."

Bus driver Lee Davidson said he thought the taxi trade was making a valid point.

He said: "There's a lot of taxis on the road, so I can see where they are coming from, but I never use them."

Lilian Mather said: "My man used to be a taxi driver. If they're putting more taxis on the road, it'll be hard for them to make a living."
