Near death sparks drink crackdown
Police have promised tough action against those buying alcohol for under-18s, following the near death of a 12-year-old girl.

The youngster was found severely intoxicated in a park in Sauchie, Clackmannanshire, after asking three different adults to buy her alcohol.

Central Scotland Police warned buying drink for underagers was an offence, following the incident on 3 February.

The girl was taken to Stirling Royal Infirmary for treatment.

PC Gordon Wilson said: "On three separate occasions within a 24-hour period, the young girl approached three different adults to buy her alcohol.

"There was a very real chance she could have died."
