Chemicals company Ineos has announced plans to close one of its operations at Grangemouth, citing tough economic conditions for the move. The High Density Polyethylene plant, involved in the production of bottles and containers, is to close at the end of 2007 unless the market improves.
The 35 workers employed on the plant have been given the opportunity to be redeployed across the Grangemouth site.
Concerns were raised of a possible knock-on effect to hauliers.
Falkirk Council deputy economic convener Angus MacDonald said: "It is very unfortunate that the global market has made it necessary for this plant to close."
