Yachtswoman gives birth to twins
Shirley Robertson
Robertson and her children were healthy after the birth
Double Olympic gold medal winning sailor Shirley Robertson has given birth to twins.

Mrs Robertson, 37, gave birth to 5.6lb Killian and 4.8lb Annabel by caesarean section at St Mary's Hospital on Isle of Wight where she lives.

A spokeswoman for the Dundee-born yachtswoman said the twins were born one minute apart on Wednesday.

"Both mother and babies are happy and healthy and there were no complications," the spokeswoman added.

Mrs Robertson, who lives with her company director husband Jamie Boag, 36, sailed to solo victory in the 2000 Sydney Olympics in a Europe class dinghy.

In Athens in 2004, she joined up with fellow sailors Sarah Ayton, 24, and Sarah Webb, 27, to win gold in the Yngling class.

The yachtswoman is intending to compete in the Beijing Olympics in 2008 to make it three out of three gold medals, again in the Yngling class.
