A new mobile playing pitch has been unveiled in Perth and Kinross as the latest weapon in the fight against anti-social behaviour. The 15m by 10m pitch can be used for a range of sports, including football, tennis and touch rugby.
It will be used in communities with high rates of youth crime, a problem often fuelled by bored youngsters.
The pitch, which can be quickly erected and dismantled, has been spearheaded by Perth and Kinross Council.
'Quality of life'
Similar mobile pitches, which can be used in areas including car parks, council estates and school playgrounds, have been used in countries all over the world.
Alastair Barr, who chairs the council's community partnership anti-social behaviour strategy, hopes the pitch will provide a good way for youngsters to burn off energy.
"The mobile pitch has been shown to act as a powerful diversion in communities where high levels of youth crime and anti-social behaviour impact negatively on the quality of life," he said.

"Many of the young people who get involved in anti-social behaviour do so out of boredom - because there is nothing for them to do or to get involved in.
"Providing a place where young people can channel their energy positively will actively counteract that problem."
The council also hopes that the pitch will help youngsters develop their social skills and provide them with a safe environment.
