The council has ruled out making a bid to buy Raydale Park |
Dumfries and Galloway Council has ruled out a bid to buy the Raydale Park football ground in Gretna. The stadium was the home of the town's Scottish Football League side and is still in the hands of the club's administrators. Councillors met earlier this week to discuss the potential of buying the ground as a recreational facility. They decided not to make an offer but pledged to support a local campaign to keep the stadium for community use. Gretna FC went into administration earlier this year. No buyer could be found for the club and it dropped out of the SFL with its place eventually going to nearby Annan Athletic. Administrators are now looking to market the Raydale Park site to buyers "outside football". At present a newly-formed Gretna team in the East of Scotland League is scheduled to play its games in the nearby town of Annan.
