About 15,000 Queen of the South fans are heading to Hampden |
Thousands of Queen of the South fans have been making their journey to Hampden for their club's first ever appearance in the Scottish Cup final. The side from Dumfries in south west Scotland takes on Rangers in the end of season showpiece event. The first division team sold out its allocation of 15,500 tickets for the match in a matter of days. Supporters have travelled from Oman, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand to follow the Doonhamers' dream. Queen of the South qualified for the cup final by beating Aberdeen at Hampden last month. They took 10,000 fans to that game but even more have snapped up tickets for the final. The figure sold for the clash with the Glasgow giants represents about half the population of the southern Scottish town. No matter what the outcome of the game, the Dumfries side has already qualified for the Uefa Cup.
