The wind farm inquiry is due to run for about three weeks

North British Windpower Ltd lodged an appeal after planning permission was rejected by Scottish Borders Council.

East Lothian Council, Scottish Natural Heritage and hundreds of individuals also opposed the Fallago Rig scheme.

The inquiry, in The Volunteer Hall in Duns, is expected to run for about three weeks with a site visit on 21 February before it draws to a close.

Evidence will be heard from developers and council representatives as well as the Ministry of Defence due to concerns over the effect on radar equipment.

The original plans for the site were for a total of 64 turbines.

This number was reduced to 48 but the Scottish Borders Council opposed the proposals last year by nine votes to three.

A Scottish Government Reporter will deliver a final verdict on the scheme following the inquiry in the Borders.
