Airtricity has lodged an appeal over the rejection of its plans

Scottish Borders Council turned down Airtricity's Langhope Rig scheme earlier this year.

Councillors went against the recommendations of their officers in rejecting the proposal.

A company spokesman said its scheme could make a significant impact in meeting Scotland's renewable targets.

It has now lodged an official appeal against the decision with the Scottish Executive.

"Airtricity was naturally extremely disappointed at the recent decision to reject our proposal for a wind farm development at Langhope Rig," said chief executive Alan Baker.

"Climate change is happening, and all of Scotland has a role to play in combating it, including the Scottish Borders."
