Wind farm application submitted
Wind turbines
Ten turbines are proposed for the development near Ashkirk
Plans have been submitted to Scottish Borders Council for a wind farm at Langhope Rig near Ashkirk village.

Airtricity UK wants to build a 23MW development which would see a total of 10 turbines constructed.

The proposed Langhope Rig wind farm would generate electricity for about 13,000 homes and would link into the national grid at Hawick.

A public exhibition of the proposals is planned for 4 July in Ashkirk Village Hall between 1100 and 1930 BST.

"We have been working closely with the local communities," said Airtricity Scotland's CEO Alan Baker.

"And we will continue to consult widely over the coming months."
