Strike averted at clothing firm
Industrial action over pay rates at the world famous clothing firm J Barbour & Sons has been averted.

Talks involving management, the T&G union and conciliation service Acas resulted in a 4.1% offer for the lowest paid workers being agreed.

Workers at Tweedbank in the Borders and South Shields in England have now dropped plans for a 24-hour strike.

However, the company is still seeking voluntary redundancies among its workforce north of the border.
