Property sales gain council �4m
Maxwelltown High School
Land opposite Maxwelltown High School fetched �1.5m
Sales of surplus council land and property in Dumfries and Galloway generated more than �4m last year.

More than 30 different sites were sold off by the authority during the financial year 2006/07.

The biggest single deal saw land opposite Maxwelltown High School at Hardthorn Road in Dumfries sell for a total of �1.5m.

Former school buildings at Dundrennan and Corsock were also included in the property sell-off.

Other notable sales included �330,000 for a play area at Summerville Crescent in Dumfries.

While just over �120,000 was raised by the former Adult Education Centre in the town's Irish Street.
