The mud and rain has helped to boost boot sales |
A Dumfries-based Wellington boot manufacturer has been cashing in on the bad weather suffered by music festivals across the UK this year. Hunter Boots has been operating at full capacity to meet demand as heavy rains hit events such as Glastonbury.
Showers are also forecast for T in the Park, which has boosted boot sales in Perth and Dundee.
Hunter's chief executive Malcolm Cannon said they were having a "great season" due to the torrential downpours.
The company has a long-established reputation with country sports enthusiasts and farmers.
It gained a further boost when Kate Moss was spotted wearing the brand at Glastonbury two years ago.
The firm's factory at Heathhall, which makes 200,000 pairs a year, is operating at full capacity.
"This is fantastic weather," said Mr Cannon.
"We couldn't ask for better weather for us, which might sound horrid, but it doesn't seem to dampen the enthusiasm of festival goers, who seem to have a great time regardless.
"While they have a great time, we are having a great season."
'Big celebrities'
He said that the boots often enjoyed a surge in sales at this time of year.
"We are at the whim of retailers, and if they have forgotten how wet last year's T in the Park was, they don't stock up and suddenly they're left short," he said.
"The great thing is that Hunter's seem to be the style that everyone has decided to go with and having some big celebrities being photographed in them, does great things for us.
"We have told retailers that the weather will be bad but a lot of them didn't listen and continued to stock up with sun hats and sunglasses."
