Hundreds of people have signed a petition against the plans |
A call has been made to extend a consultation over plans to build a major wind farm on Shetland. It is a joint venture for 150 turbines between Scottish and Southern Energy and the island community. It is estimated the Viking Energy project could generate £37m a year for the community and create hundreds of jobs. Hundreds of people have objected. Local MP Alistair Carmichael and MSP Tavish Scott said the end of June may be too soon to end the consultation.
