Hostage incident at city prison

A 13-hour hostage situation has been tackled at Craiginches Prison in Aberdeen, it has emerged.

The incident, which involved two prisoners, began at about 1500 GMT on Sunday afternoon.

A Scottish Prison Service (SPS) spokesman confirmed: "A hostage incident involving two prisoners took place at HMP Aberdeen."

He said it was concluded peacefully at about 0400 GMT on Monday, and the matter was now with Grampian Police.
