Care centre group fears for base

Choices offered respite care for 56 people in Aberdeen

Campaigners fighting to take over an Aberdeen day centre for the disabled fear they will not be allowed to remain in their current premises.

Choices on Westburn Road has closed as part of the city council's savings.

Users recently abandoned a legal challenge to concentrate their efforts on getting the centre back in business.

Chairman of Future Choices, Kevin McCahery, said he was disappointed a meeting with the council gave them no assurances.

Choices offered respite care for 56 people and closed as part of the council's programme of 27m in budget savings.
