Arts centre bid wins commendation
Union Terrace Gardens plan
The Union Terrace Gardens plan would cost millions
Plans for a major community arts centre in Aberdeen have won praise from a prestigious design organisation.

The Peacock Visual Arts proposals for Union Terrace Gardens were commended by Architecture and Design Scotland.

In a report it says the project would regenerate the area and contribute to the city centre.

The Peacock Visual Arts plan was again rubber-stamped by Aberdeen City Council planners on Thursday. It is subject to approval by Scottish Ministers.

The multi-million pounds plans include areas for film screenings and music performances plus workshops and dance and TV studios.

The national Architecture and Design Scotland body was set up to advise councils on the merits of building plans.
