Two lost walkers found on hills
Two walkers reported missing in the Cairngorms have been safely found by mountain rescue teams.

Grampian Police and Braemar Mountain Rescue were called out overnight when the partner of one of the men raised the alarm.

The walkers - aged 48 and 49 - were found at about 0545 BST after walking on Beinn A-Bhurd.

One was from the Skene area of Aberdeenshire and the other was from the Bristol area.

'Right thing'

They had lost the footpath due to darkness, deep heather and bog and had stopped and sheltered.

Mountain rescuers met them and they then made their own way home.

Mountain Rescue co-ordinator, Const Dave Smith, said: "The men were reasonably well-equipped to the extent they even had survival bags.

"They did the right thing by not wandering about and getting lost after they realised they were in difficulties."
