Package alert as minister visits
Army bomb disposal team at the scene
An area was cordoned off after the package find
A suspicious package found at an Aberdeen police station where Transport Minister Tavish Scott was making a visit has been safely dealt with.

The package was discovered at the offices of the speed camera team at Nelson Street at about 0945 GMT, and cordons were put in place.

An Army bomb disposal team dealt with the incident at about 1330 GMT.

Grampian Police said the package was opened and was found to contain nothing of a suspicious nature.

'Non-criminal'

Det Ch Ins Mark Cooper said: "We are pleased that the matter has been dealt with and that the package posed no risk to anyone.

"The package was examined and found to contain non-suspicious material. This incident is being treated as a non-criminal matter.

"We are satisfied with our response to this incident which we consider was appropriate in the circumstances."

The package had been removed from the building immediately after it was discovered and placed on open ground well away from the area of the visit of Mr Scott, which was concluding at that point.
