The group will help people with alcohol related problems |
The north-east's largest alcohol support group was launched on Friday by Deputy Health Minister Lewis Macdonald. Albyn House Association and Alcohol Advisory and Counselling Services are specialist charities and have now merged to form Alcohol Support Ltd.
The new group provides confidential support to children and adults who are experiencing problems as a result of alcohol abuse.
It also offers counselling in schools and health centres.
Dr Adam Coldwells, Alcohol Support Ltd's chair, said: "Many of us know someone who has been affected by someone with alcohol problems and know the difficulties it can create with life at home and at work.
Integrated support
"As a result of the merger, people will find it easier to access the support they need and will give us the opportunity to enhance the services previously provided by both companies.
"We will also have a bigger voice about alcohol related issues within the community"
Alcohol Support Ltd offers integrated support and rehabilitation throughout Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.
Deputy Health Minister Lewis Macdonald said the merger was a positive step both in terms of ease of access to services and the opportunities to enhance the services previously provided by both charities.
