Two Aberdeen city councillors have called for an early decision on the future of the north-east's two jails. George Leslie and Jim Kiddie want assurances that a decision has not been delayed as a political ploy in the run up to the Holyrood elections.

But Councillor Leslie said conditions at Craiginches were too critical for a decision to be put off any longer.
