The bodies of 14 servicemen killed in the RAF Kinloss Nimrod crash in Afghanistan have been released for their funerals. Twelve of the victims in the crash in September came from the Moray base, alongside a Royal Marine and a soldier.
The bodies were examined by a coroner before being returned to relatives.
The first funeral in Scotland will be of Flt Sgt Stephen Beattie in Forres on Saturday. The MoD said it was pleased families could move to the next stage.
Relatives and experts have expressed concerns about Nimrod safety as the crash was suspected to have been caused by a technical fault.
The MoD has promised to fully investigate the cause.
Defence Secretary Des Browne said the "age and management" of the Nimrod fleet would be looked at.
The pledge came after concerns were expressed by Shona Beattie, the widow of Flt Sgt Beattie, and Flt Lt Jimmy Jones - a former RAF Nimrod trial officer.
