Car driver killed in lorry crash
Crash scene
Police said the road opened again after an investigation
A man has died after a lorry and a car were involved in a serious crash on an Aberdeenshire road.

The HGV and car collided on the A96 Aberdeen to Huntly road on the Newtack to Glens of Foudland stretch at about 0730 GMT.

The male BMW driver was fatally injured and the lorry driver was left shocked. A minor snow fall had turned to slush.

Grampian Police said the road was closed for several hours to allow an accident investigation.

The northbound articulated lorry was in collision with the southbound BMW car on the approach to the road's crawler lane.

Grampian Police warned that, with the sudden onset of winter conditions, drivers everywhere should be wary of road conditions.
