The proposed new line would a higher voltage |
A report from the public inquiry into the proposed upgrade of the Beauly to Denny electricity line has been sent to Scottish ministers. The new transmission line - which would carry 400,000 volts (400kV) - is to replace the existing 132kV line. Campaigners called for alternatives to the erection of 42-65m high towers. The inquiry was the largest in Scotland since devolution and heard evidence from almost 200 witnesses over 105 days of evidence. Ministers in the Scottish Government will now consider all representations and material issues, including the public local inquiry report, and will take a final decision on the proposal later this year.
