Charles and Camilla at the Mey Games this summer |
A firm that sells and promotes the produce of Caithness farmers and food growers has reported doubling its turnover last year to 8.6m. North Highland Products Limited owns the Mey Selections brand. Its formation followed the setting up of the North Highlands Initiative, which in turn was inspired by Prince Charles. Danny Miller, a Caithness farmer and chairman of North Highland Products, said 2007 had been a "milestone" year. The prince and his wife, Camilla, have become regular visitors to Caithness and stay at the Castle of Mey. Earlier this month, Prince Charles received the Freedom of Caithness. His grandmother, the Queen Mother, was granted the Freedom of Wick in 1956 and The Freedom of the District of Caithness in 1990.
