Prince Charles is a regular visitor to Caithness |
A whisky chosen by Prince Charles could help a project he set up for promoting the north of Scotland. The malt is called Barrogill, which is the original name for the Castle of Mey in Caithness, the Queen Mother's home in the Highlands.
One pound from each sale will go to the North Highland Initiative, which aims to support the sale of local products.
Airdrie-based Inver House will produce the whisky and its label will feature a drawing of the castle by the prince.
Distinctive region
A year ago he visited Caithness to launch the Mey Selections brand, which promotes local farm produce, as part of his North Highland Initiative.
The second phase of his project - Pleasure in the Extreme - was launched last year.
It aims to present the north Highlands as one distinctive region, to encourage people to stay longer and to visit more than once a year.
Mey Selections, which markets beef, lamb and cheeses from the region, has seen a turnover of 2m in its first year.
