The portrait will be added to the college's collection |
An art work by Scottish artist Peter Howson has been donated to the national centre for Gaelic language and culture. The portrait is of the late internationally acclaimed poet Sorley Maclean, a key figure in the Sabhal Mor Ostaig centre's early years. It was donated to the college on Skye by Lord Gus Macdonald and accepted by its board of directors. Howson is best known for his distinctive figurative paintings of the Bosnian war and the singer Madonna.
