Council begins legal move on yard
Highland Council will prepare a compulsory purchase order in an attempt to take control of a former oil fabrication yard in Easter Ross.

However, while working on a CPO local authority officials will continue talks with Nigg's owners in a bid to break deadlock over the yard's sale.

It cannot go ahead until the lease of the land is resolved.

The council will also prepare a master plan for the site and seek a partner to take it over once a CPO is granted.

Councillors agreed to the action at a meeting of the full council.
