Talks on fabrication yard future
Nigg fabrication yard
Nigg has been used for constructing offshore wind turbines
Senior councillors are to meet with representatives of a US engineering giant in the hope of breathing new life into a fabrication yard.

Members of Highland Council are eager to see the deep water facility at Nigg in Easter Ross put to greater use.

KBR owns most of the site but there has been a dispute over a section of land owned by an organisation, known as the Wakelyn Trust.

Compulsory purchase of the site is an option available to the council.

Nigg has been used for the construction of large offshore wind turbines.

Two years ago, it was suggested the yard could be used for the break-up of defunct US Navy vessels.
