City's Car Free Day closes road
Traffic
People will be encouraged to leave their cars at home on Wednesday
A road and junctions in Inverness will be temporarily closed while the city hosts its Car Free Day next Wednesday.

Castle Road will be shut to traffic at its junction with Haugh Road to the junction with Bridge Street between 0900 and 1700 BST.

Highland Council said an alternative route for drivers will be available using Bridge Street, High Street, Castle Street and View Place.

Vehicle access to businesses on Ness Bank will be via Cavell Gardens.

However, the temporary closure will not affect normal access for cyclists, pedestrians and emergency vehicles.

Car Free Day is promoted as part of European Mobility Week which runs from 17-21 September.

Highland Council said Inverness is the only place in Scotland taking part this year.
