Butterflies could help boost tourism to the Highlands, according to a group dedicated to protecting the insects. Butterfly Conservation Scotland said the Cairngorms were home to more than 20 species.
It is running a workshop for bed and breakfasts, hoteliers and visitor centres to help them direct tourists to the best places to see them.
The training, to be held in April, will also cover identifying butterflies and their ecology.
The conservation group said: "The Cairngorms is home to about 24 different species of butterflies.
"However, this beautiful and colourful aspect of the area's natural heritage is often neglected as a vital resource to attract and retain visitors."
Species listed by Butterfly Conservation Scotland include the dingy skipper, green hairstreak, red admiral, small pearl-bordered fritillary, speckled wood and painted lady.
