Services across Scotland have been affected by the strike |
A rail passenger has told how the strike has played its part in his troubled long journey from the Highlands to a job interview in England. Jonathan Supper, 47, claimed train companies have offered no assistance to stranded travellers.
Mr Supper, who booked his ticket online on 28 February, left his local station at Kyle of Lochalsh on the 0725 on Tuesday - the day before the strike.
He is now trying to make his way back home.
Twenty minutes after leaving Kyle of Lochalsh, the brakes jammed and train was delayed for an hour.
It meant it was going to be an hour late into Inverness and we were told the train from Inverness to Edinburgh would be held back.
But it wasn't and before I could complain I was stuck in a taxi along with another passenger with the intention of meeting the train in Perth.
We missed the train in Perth and I arranged another taxi to take me to Edinburgh so I could catch the three o'clock train to Peterborough from where I would go on to Cambridge for my job interview.
I've been calling the rail companies today to get them to commit to giving me assistance to get back home.
If they could get me a taxi on the way down, why can't they do the same on the return journey?
Pregnant wife
I've spoken to four representatives all the way up to their press office who are sticking to the same line that they can't help everybody - so I'm stuck.
I'm in Peterborough still waiting for the 0846.
My hope is to get to Edinburgh to catch a bus.
My wife, who is eight months pregnant said she would drive down to Edinburgh to pick me up, but I've told her not to.
The most obvious impact of the strike is that people with pre-paid tickets, who were committed to making a journey, cannot get help to get home.
