Inverness to host climate lecture
Moorland
Prof Curran has previously warned about gas from moorland
A former government adviser on the environment who has warned that Scotland is sitting on a global time bomb is to give a lecture in Inverness.

Prof James Curran said greenhouse gas released from moorland could make climate change irreversible.

He said moorland soil is drying up and eroding as temperatures rise, causing the release of carbon dioxide.

Prof Curran will give his lecture at 1230 BST on Friday at the UHI executive office in Inverness.

It is entitled 'Sustainable development is a journey - but are we on a cheap day return?'

Prof Curran recently left environment protection agency Sepa.
