The fling will take place at the end of the opening ceremony |
Highland games organisers want to bring together 200 dancers to take part in the Masters World Championships in Inverness. A mass Highland fling will be the climax of the opening ceremony at what is being dubbed Scotland's "biggest ever" games, from 22-23 July.
About 100 dancers took part in a similar event last year.
Money raised from the fling will go to the North of Scotland Highland Dancing Championships, held in October.
More than 100 heavyweight athletes from all over the world are due to compete in the Masters.
Inter-clan gathering
It is the first time the event for athletes over the age of 40 will be held outside the US.
Competitors from 11 countries are expected to take part in the games, which will also host an inter-clan gathering, dancing and piping.
Next summer, as part of the Year of Highland Culture 2007, the Inverness Highland Games will host the World Highland Games Championships, contested by the top 12 heavyweight athletes in the world.
Anyone interested in taking part in the massive fling can contact Elizabeth Fraser, of the Fraser School of Dancing, on 01463 729 477.
