Comedian attends Highland Games
Billy Connolly and wife Pamela Stephenson enjoy the Lonach Highland Gathering at Bellabeg Park, in Strathdon, Aberdeenshire
Billy Connolly said he enjoyed the games
Billy Connolly played it for laughs when he and his wife Pamela Stephenson attended the Highland Games.

The pair enjoyed warm sunshine at the annual event at Bellabeg Park in Strathdon, Aberdeenshire, on Saturday.

The Big Yin, who has a house at nearby Candacraig and is Laird of the Gathering, turned out in a kilt.

Connolly, 61, signed autographs and swapped jokes with the crowds before taking his seat in the arena to enjoy the ceremony.

Speaking at the games, Connolly said he was enjoying the day.

"It's great, it's all good fun," he said.

He also joked with the public about the number of wasps flying about during the event.

Connolly's patronage of Lonach has acted as a magnet for crowds flocking to the area keen to see a famous face.

In the past celebrities including Ewan McGregor, Sean Connery, Michael Parkinson, Robin Williams and Anna Friel have attended.
