Cash aid for Highland arts venue
Eden Court Theatre
The theatre on the banks of the River Ness is undergoing a major revamp
A funding appeal set up to pay for a major revamp of Eden Court in Inverness has received 50,000 towards the creation of a second theatre.

The cash to assist with the 250 seat theatre at the Highland arts venue comes from the grant-giving charity, the Garfield Weston Foundation.

The project also includes two new cinemas and restoration of the historic Bishop's Palace next to Eden Court.

The overall cost of the redevelopment runs to 19.3m.

Most of the finance towards the project has come from public sector funding awards.

The Eden Court Appeal is part of the package and has a target of 2m to reach by the end of the construction period.

So far more than 1.5m has been raised.

The aim is to finish the work in time for the venue to play a leading role in the 2007 Celebration of Highland Culture.
