Shahid admitted the assault in Barlinnie Prison in February 2008 |
One of the men who killed Kriss Donald has admitted assaulting a fellow prisoner while serving a life sentence for murdering the Glasgow teenager. Imran Shahid, 32, repeatedly punched and kicked fellow prisoner Leslie Black in Barlinne Jail in February last year. At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Shahid was sentenced to three months, which will run concurrently with his life term. Black is also facing charges over the incident, in which he is alleged to have shouted racist abuse at Shahid. Sentencing Shahid, Sheriff William Totten told him: "You have a short but very significant record and standing that record you would be facing a substantial sentence. "It's clear, however, that there was substantial provocation and since this incident you have demonstrated an ability to be of good behaviour." Shahid, his brother Zeeshan Shahid and Faisal Mushtaq were all sentenced to life in November 2006 after being found guilty of murdering Kriss Donald. The 15-year-old was abducted on 15 March, 2004, from Pollokshields in Glasgow. He was later stabbed and set on fire. His body was found by the Clyde walkway in the east end of the city.
