Club members will try to do as many spins as they can in one hour |
Figure skaters in Lanarkshire will be all in a spin as they attempt to enter the Guinness Book of World Records. Youngsters aged 5-18 from the North Lanarkshire Figure Skating Club are attempting to set a new record for the most two-footed spins in one hour. The challenge will take place on Wednesday at 1900 GMT at the club's training base, the Time Capsule, in Coatbridge. The skaters will be raising money for this year's Children in Need appeal. Club chairman John MacInnes told the BBC Scotland news website: "We are hoping to raise a substantial sum of money for Children in Need, as well as raising our own profile by attempting to set a new world record. "Club members are extremely excited to be taking part in the event and have been practising with their coaches in order to give it their all."
