More than 2,000 tenants could be asked to transfer landlord |
More than 2,000 tenants in Glasgow could be asked if they want to transfer to another landlord - five years after they opted out of council control. Glasgow Housing Association, which took over the city's housing stock in 2003, is to seek permission for five "second-stage" transfer ballots in November. The votes are subject to approval by the Scottish Housing Regulator. Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon welcomed the development and said it represented "real progress". Under the proposal, tenants in five local housing organisations will be asked if they want to transfer. The are Ardenglen, Castle Stuart, Crossview, Glasgow West and Shettleston. If the tenants agree, the move could go ahead as early as March 2009.
