The M74 tendering process was flawed, according to the Greens |
The government agency Transport Scotland has said it played by the rules in the tendering process for the M74 extension. A Scottish Green Party activist has filed a complaint about the 500m project to the European Commission.
It alleged the process breaks two directives and, in particular, rules regarding anti-competitive practice.
Transport Scotland said the scheme had been properly audited and tendering complied with procurement law.
There is a single bidder for the main contract - a consortium of four companies.
The Greens complaint is against the consortium, the Scottish Government and Transport Scotland.
The five-mile extension is designed to connect the M74 to the M8, west of the Kingston Bridge in Glasgow.
Environmental campaigners have consistently opposed the project.
