Key parts of the Glasgow Airport Rail Link have been given the go-ahead by Renfrewshire Council. Planning permission was given by the local authority for seven areas, including airport station platforms and a viaduct over St James Park.
Councillor Iain Nicolson said planning approval for engineering and design features marked another milestone in the development of the link.
Preparatory work has already started on the service.
The rail link will provide a dedicated train service every 15 minutes between Glasgow Central Station and a new station at Glasgow Airport.
Trains will stop once at Paisley Gilmour Street and the journey time will be 16 minutes.
