Prince William will visit Faslane after his visit to Scotstoun shipyards

William boarded HMS Daring at the Scotstoun shipyard on the River Clyde in Glasgow.

He met Royal Navy crew members and saw demonstrations of equipment on the ship, which was launched last year by the Countess of Wessex.

A Type 45 destroyer, the vessel is billed as one of the most advanced of its kind.

The ship was built by BAE Systems and is designed to take on many enemies at the same time, as well as providing defence for aircraft carriers or other vessels.

Work is currently being carried out on its weapons systems following successful sea trials over the summer.

The ship is due to be handed over to the Royal Navy at the end of 2008 and should enter service at the end of 2009.

Prince William, a second lieutenant in the Blues and Royals cavalry regiment of the army, will continue his trip with a visit to Faslane Naval Base on Friday.
