Glasgow's Kelvingrove Museum has welcomed its two millionth visitor just six months after a huge refurbishment. The distinguished visitor was Marta Zurakowska from Poland, who moved to the city just four months ago.
Before renovation, the museum was the most visited outside London with more than one million entrants a year.
Marta and her three-year-old daughter Ola were going to visit the Transport Museum but made a detour to see Kelvingrove's dinosaur exhibits.
They were greeted by the lord provost Liz Cameron and a barrage of photographers.
Marta said: "We were here a lot of times and today Ola also wanted to see the Museum of Transport but first she chose this museum."
Attendance figures have been predicted to rise even further, with between three and four million visitors expected in the first year of reopening.
Visitor numbers are expected to remain higher than pre-refurbishment levels over the longer term.
The current figures have beaten both Tate Britain and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and are challenging Tate Modern and the National Gallery.
