 Kelvingrove has attracted millions since re-opening in July |
One of Scotland's leading museums has attracted more than three million visitors in its first year following a major refurbishment. New figures reveal that since Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum reopened, it logged 3,209,825 visits.
Officials said this was more than Edinburgh Castle, the National Museum of Scotland and the National Galleries of Scotland combined.
The Glagow attraction is now the 4th most visited museum in the UK.
Only the National Gallery, Tate Modern and British Museum in London attract more visitors in the UK.
Bailie Liz Cameron, chair of Culture & Sport Glasgow, the body to oversee the city's cultural sector, said: "Kelvingrove is not only the jewel in Glasgow's cultural crown, but has now been proven to be a national treasure, attracting millions of visitors from near and far.
"But none of this would have been possible without the hard work of hundreds of staff who have been involved with this project and whose dedication has returned Scotland's must-see museum to a most grateful city."
