Angelika Kluk had been spending her second summer in Scotland

The 23-year-old's body was found in St Patrick's Church, Anderston, Glasgow on 29 September. Odd job man Peter Tobin, 60, has been charged with her murder.

It is understood a private ceremony was held in a crematorium in Poland at the end of October.

A spokesman for the Catholic Church in Scotland said St Patrick's will remain closed and be refurbished. It is expected to reopen in the spring.

He added that plans to refurbish the church had been in place prior to Ms Kluk's death.

Father Gerry Nugent, the parish priest, has not returned to work since the Polish student's death.

She had been staying in the church while on a working holiday to fund her language studies at the University of Gdansk.

Mr Tobin appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on 9 October.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody.

Ms Kluk's friends and family paid their last respects at a memorial service at St Peter's Church in the west end of Glasgow on Wednesday, 18 October.
