A man taken to court after his dog fouled on grass next to a children's play park has been fined 80. John Thomson, from Oban, appeared in Oban District Court when he disputed a fixed penalty issued by a warden.
Argyll and Bute Council said it was the first case to go to court in Scotland since new legislation in 2003.
A spokesman said: "This case should serve as a reminder to all dog owners that it is their legal responsibility to clean up after their dogs."
