Campaigners trying to save an Edinburgh athletics stadium from being replaced by hundreds of homes are urging people to attend a public meeting. Save Meadowbank campaigners are against council plans to move running clubs to a new site in Sighthill.
A public meeting will be held at Meadowbank Stadium on Saturday 17 March at 1500 GMT.
About 3,000 members of Unite the Clubs marched through Edinburgh last month to take their demands to the parliament.
Consultation exercise
Kevin Connor, campaign spokesman, said: "Meadowbank Stadium is a major public asset and its status demands an effective consultation exercise.
"This public meeting will possibly be your only chance to talk directly with those who made the decision to close the facility.
"Meadowbank is without doubt the most popular sports centre in Edinburgh and it should be feasible to come up with a refurbishment plan that doesn't cost the earth."
Concerned locals and sports clubs formed the Save Meadowbank campaign group last week.
It aims to reverse Edinburgh Council's decision to demolish Meadowbank Stadium and sell off the cleared site to private housing developers.
