Drinks firm promotes safety drive
Fife Constabulary is working with a major drinks company to promote the message of responsible drinking across the region.

Drinks company Diageo, which has a plant in Leven, is helping promote the message by sponsoring a car for the force's alcohol liaison unit.

Alcohol liaison officer Michelle McNally will use the car to help reduce alcohol-related crime in the area.

Police said alcohol misuse was a contributor to many crimes within Fife.

Sensible choices

John Paterson, site director of Diageo's packaging site in Leven, said: "As a global business and as a major employer in Fife, we believe that we have a part to play in encouraging people to embrace a responsible attitude towards drinking alcohol beverages.

"We are delighted to be involved in 'community partnerships' that help equip the communities in which we operate with the information they need to make sensible choices about alcohol."

Ms McNally said: "Whether it is on your Christmas night works night out or just socialising with friends you can get easily caught up in the festive spirit and often drink more than you normally would, making a good night out possibly end in disaster."
