Scotland's 32 local authorities have set their council tax rates for 2008/09. They all implemented a freeze following an agreement signed by the Scottish Government and Cosla, the umbrella body for the country's councils. However, council tax bills will not be a carbon copy of 2007/2008 as water rates are rising from 365 to 379 and that increase will appear on the final notice. Here are the average Band D figures. | Scotland's council tax bills 2008/09 | | | COUNCIL | 2007/08 | RISE | 2008/09 | | Aberdeen | 1,230 | 0% | 1,230 | | Aberdeenshire | 1,141 | 0% | 1,141 | | Angus | 1,072 | 0% | 1,072 | | Argyll and Bute | 1,178 | 0% | 1,178 | | Clackmannanshire | 1,148 | 0% | 1,148 | | Dumfries and Galloway | 1,049 | 0% | 1,049 | | Dundee | 1,211 | 0% | 1,211 | | East Ayrshire | 1,188 | 0% | 1,188 | | East Dunbartonshire | 1,142 | 0% | 1,142 | | East Lothian | 1,117 | 0% | 1,117 | | East Renfrewshire | 1,126 | 0% | 1,126 | | Edinburgh | 1,169 | 0% | 1,169 | | Falkirk | 1,070 | 0% | 1,070 | | Fife | 1,118 | 0% | 1,118 | | Glasgow | 1,213 | 0% | 1,213 | | Highland | 1,163 | 0% | 1,163 | | Inverclyde | 1,198 | 0% | 1,198 | | Midlothian | 1,210 | 0% | 1,210 | | Moray | 1,135 | 0% | 1,135 | | N Ayrshire | 1,152 | 0% | 1,152 | | N Lanarkshire | 1,098 | 0% | 1,098 | | Orkney | 1,037 | 0% | 1,037 | | Perth & Kinross | 1,158 | 0% | 1,158 | | Renfrewshire | 1,164 | 0% | 1,164 | | Scottish Borders | 1,084 | 0% | 1,084 | | Shetland | 1,053 | 0% | 1,053 | | S Ayrshire | 1,153 | 0% | 1,153 | | S Lanarkshire | 1,101 | 0% | 1,101 | | Stirling | 1,223 | - 1.1% | 1,209 | | West Dunbartonshire | 1,163 | 0% | 1,163 | | West Lothian | 1,128 | 0% | 1,128 | | Western Isles | 1,024 | 0% | 1,024 | | | | | | Source: The figures quoted are based on Band D rates. |
